works well and good quality. Only gripe is that sometimes iphone thinks it's not supported. You have to unplug it for a few mins then it works.
But, having said that, it works perfectly for me and seems secure once it's plugged in. As noted in the product description, if you have this problem, it is almost certainly a wiring problem in your car, which can be resolved by requesting a free ground loop isolator from Kensington.
Not an ideal solution.I was hesitant to buy the LiquidAUX, given some of the negative reviews here, but decided to roll the dice and give it a try. My 2008 Subaru STi came with an iPod adapter that was not compatible with my iPhone 3G, so I've used the iPhone's headphone plug, connected to the STi's auxiliary input, and have fiddled with the iPhone's screen controls to start, pause and skip songs.
I did not experience any of the buzzing or whining sounds some have reported. It works perfectly in my Subaru.
The connector permits the iPhone to charge and play songs through the STi's sound system, and the remote, which I wasn't sure would be all that great a benefit, really makes it a pleasure to use the iPhone in my car. If I had to come up with any criticism of the LiquidAUX, it would be that the plug seems a little light and flimsy.
Based on my experience I would recommend the LiquidAUX without hesitation.
I use the adapter for my iPhone 3G almost every day. As for sound quality, it's fairly good actually. While removing the remote from its mount it "exploded" into its five components. It's not reliable and now it's dead. The remote sometimes didn't work but would usually reconnect after some fiddling. Yesterday when it didn't I thought to check the battery. Everything was going OK until yesterday. That helped with everything but the 3G buzz when it checks for email.I'd look for a version with out the remote.
Too much hassle.Update:I probably should have called first then written. I did have to add a noise filter in the audio line. Kensington was great it has a two year warranty and they are sending out a replacement unit. I'm going to contact Kensington and see if they'll help. It was a fairly good performer. If that's the main reason you're looking at this unit.
It's glued shut and won't just snap back together. I'll update with the results. Move on. I'm still concerned about the construction of the remote, but the company is great.
this works as advertised but sounds quieter than the other ipod connection I have, (I think is a griffin), for it to get a loud sound like I like it I have to turn the volume all the way up and it still is not loud enough, I'd say it sounds 40% lower than the cd player in my car (2007 beetle), also there is a humming noise, but I get that with the griffin also, so that's my car's issue. The remote works ok, I've used it on a friends car and it sounds good enough (2009 SEAT)
The extension cable (which you need unless your cigarette lighter is right next to your mini plug socket) has the same problem, but not as bad.The Deluxe LiquidAUX kit:This unit relies on a tight fit in your lighter socket, or you won't be able to keep the thing upright. I actually bought both the LiquidAUX kit and the Deluxe kit. The clamps holding your phone are not very sturdy and difficult to unlatch to get your iPxxxx out. One to use in my car and one on my motorcycle with my iPhone.I think they worked once or twice with some adjustments. This makes me think they probably have had a lot of problems with these products. My next gripes have to do with the different models:The standard LiquidAUX kit:They must be poorly assembled since the first time I used it it would cut out intermittently. Or they got the one unit that happened to be DOA.Not the case here. I really don't understand IndiaEnglish very well).
Here's the problems:When the iPhone firmware was updated recently, it caused problems with the remote operating and the message that the product was not iPhone compatible. Often times they are right because people rate them with one star because the weren't shipped fast enough or some complaint not related to the product. Okay, I checked the manufacturer's website and found their workaround. They also did not require the defective unit to be returned.
I really wanted to like this product. I should have them in 10 to 12 business days. I didn't have to return the old ones, just trash them. If I just touched the wires going into the power plug they would crackle and pop and had to be delicately positioned to work. Called Kensington tech support and they told me (in IndiaEnglish) to try replacing the batteries in remote. If I was within the 30 day window, I would have returned them buth.I am not happy with this purchase.update 6/9/09: Contacted Kensington and they sent a replacement at no charge. I know people don't like one star reviews and usually mark them as 'not helpful'. After a short time most of the physical connections loosen up and you need to prop the business end of the adapter against something to keep it from falling.I bought both units in Lightning Deals so the price wasn't as bad as it could be.
The message did indeed go away, but the remotes still didn't work.I decided to try my iPod to see if the problem could be caused by the iPhone, but the remotes didn't work with it either. This after providing them with the serial number (written in illegible microscopic print inside the remote). To their credit, they told me they would send me two new remotes (or complete units. But I'd rather pay more and have something that actually works properly. I'm upgrading my review to 2 stars, but no higher because it still shouldn't fail like it did, and Kensington support (in India I suppose) got my phone # wrong, my email wrong, shipped the wrong unit the first time, and took 3 weeks to get it to me.
